Mode5 Discusses Compliance, Security, and Windows 10 Migration to the NOVA ALA

Luke Downing, President of Mode5, was a speaker at the Northern Virginia ALA membership meeting, held on February 20th at Briglia Hundley, PC, located in Tysons Corner. The main topic of conversation was compliance, security, and Windows 10 migration.

Compliance types include ABA, HIPAA, PCI, NIST, and more. What drives compliance are cyber security attacks, protecting information; such as patient data and financial information, and national security. Mr. Downing discussed the implications of compliance as it relates to IT security.

In January of this year, Microsoft had an end-of-life for the Windows 7 and Server 2008 operating systems. On October 23, 2020, Microsoft will do the same for Office 2010. Because of that, there will be no more support or security patches. This leaves networks more vulnerable and can cause businesses to be out of compliance.

Keep your technology current is critical. "Tech refresh" cycles will help your organization maintain supported operating systems for security and increase worker productivity by up to 29%. "Technology is a strategic advantage. Businesses that leverage technology grow more than those that don't," Downing said in his speaking engagement.
